Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
The Elizabeth Lenz community is proud of the accomplishments made during the 2008-2009 school year to enhance academic achievement, safety, parental involvement, family support, and staff development.
  • Based on CRT results, Lenz Elementary met AYP and earned high achieving status.
  • Our wonderful PTA paid for a new shade structure to help beautify the school playground.
  • RTI was implemented and assisted teachers in gaining scientifically based interventions to help our students in academics.
  • AimsWeb assessment was used with our K-6 students and enabled teachers to collect data for instructional purposes.
  • In PLC's, teachers gathered achievement data and used it to implement strategies during our intervention/enrichment blocks.
  • We were fortunate to have an intervention specialist this year to assist students in small group intensive instruction.
  • The annual Lenz Science Fair/Wax Museum yielded many projects that advanced to the Regional Science Fair.
  • Lenz Elementary offered an after-school academic chess and science program for our students.
  • Sixth grade students performed in The Beauty and The Beast in May.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
At Lenz ES, our primary goal in literacy is to ensure that all students perform at or above grade level.

Objective(s):
It is our objective that more than 90% of our students in grades 3-6 will perform proficiently or above on state CRT assessments in English Language Arts.

Goal 2
At Lenz ES, our primary goal in mathematics is to ensure that all students perform at or above grade level.

Objective(s):
It is our objective that more than 90% of our students in grades 3-6 will score proficiently or above on state CRT assessments in mathematics.

Goal 3
At Lenz ES, our primary goal in writing is to increase student proficiency by 15% on the Analytic Trait Writing Exam.

Objective(s):
Our objective is to increase the number of students scoring 12 or higher on the 5th grade Analytic Trait Writing Exam by 15%.
