Nancy Gomes ES experienced great success during the 2010-11 school year. This is attributed to exceptional instruction and a commitment to excellence on behalf of parents, staff and students.- Our school was recognized for improving student achievement by having the highest growth in the district on Math CRT exams.
- Lifestyle Homes Foundation funded 3 Kinder Amigos to help teachers implement a high quality kindergarten program.
- 125 students were provided with 8 weeks of after-school tutoring focused on reading, math and test taking strategies.
- A math intervention aide was hired to help struggling students reach proficiency.
- One reading intervention teacher was hired to implement the Early Success program.
- All teachers received professional development training in high yield instructional strategies.
- Teachers used formative assessment data, instructional benchmarks and progress monitoring data to meet the needs of students.
- Suzanne Robbins received the Celebrate Literacy Award from the International Reading Association.
- Our fourth annual Academic Night was a huge success.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Students will increase their reading skills with a focus on comprehension of informational text and making inferences.
Objective(s): At least 63.8% of all students will Meet or Exceed Standards in reading comprehension as measured by the 2011 administration of the third and fourth grade CRTs.
Goal 2 Students will increase their math skills, particularly in the areas of computation, data analysis, and problem solving.
Objective(s): At least 65.9% of all students will Meet or Exceed Standards in math as measured by the 2011 administration of the third and fourth grade CRTs.
Goal 3 All students will increase their writing proficiency, emphasizing the four writing traits.
Objective(s): At least 63.8% of all students will Meet or Exceed Standards in writing as measured by site-level assessments throughout the school year.
