The Dunn ES community is committed to increasing proficiency in reading, writing and math, and to building character by encouraging students to take responsibility for their choices and actions.- Dunn E.S. was recognized as a Gold Star High Achieving Turn Around School for improved CRT scores and student progress.
- Dunn ES again met the AMAO (Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives) requirements for English Language Learners.
- Three full-day kindergarten classes provided a rich academic experience to prepare students for success in first grade.
- School-wide Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) was adopted to create a more supportive learning and working environment.
- Before-school math tutoring provided help for 160 students to master math facts and practice skills on the IXLmath website.
- Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests in reading and math are taken 3 times and this data informs teacher instruction.
- A full-time Read 180 lab provided intensive literacy instruction for sixty struggling 4th, 5th and 6th graders.
- Two 4th grade students earned Honorable Mention at the regional Science Fair.
- Read & Succeed volunteers provide hundreds of hours of reading and math support for students.

Goal 1 Our goal is to increase math proficiency for all students to ensure performance at grade level standards.
Objective(s): Our objective is that more than 76% of the students in grades 3-6 score proficiently on state CRT math assessments.
Goal 2 Our goal in literacy is to increase proficiency for all students to ensure performance at grade level standards.
Objective(s): Our objective is that more than 68% of students in grades 3-6 score proficiently on state CRT reading assessments.
Goal 3 Our goal in writing is to increase proficiency for all students, with special attention to disaggregated groups.
Objective(s): Our objective is that 50% of 5th grade students will be proficient in writing.
