Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students, staff and parents at Lloyd Diedrichsen Elementary School. We are dedicated to helping all students achieve their full academic potential.
  • Our choir program for students in grades 4-6  gave two outstanding community performances of their holiday music program.
  • Every primary teacher received specialized training in literacy instruction.
  • Our school was chosen to be 1 of 4 schools in our district to receive funds from the Reading First TAG grant.
  • During our first annual “Caps for a Can” hat day we collected over 400 pounds of food.
  • We received an $8,000 dollar grant from the Hart Foundation to purchase a new piano, keyboard, and upgrade our instruments.
  • We sold over 2,000 tickets during our Pumpkin Festival and had over 250 families attend this annual event.
  • We implemented a thirty-minute intervention time for all students in grades 1-6.
  • Teachers used progress monitoring and quarterly benchmarks to meet the individualized needs of their students.
  • We benchmarked all students three times during the year to determine educational needs.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
All students, especially FRL, Hispanic/Latino, and IEP students will increase literacy skills.

Objective(s):
The number of students identified as meeting or exceeding proficiency in the content area of reading to comprehend, interpret, and evaluate informational text will increase by 10% as measured by the Spring 2009 CRT exams.

Goal 2
All students, particularly FRL, Hispanic/Latino and IEP students will increase math skills.

Objective(s):
Increase the number of proficient students particularly IEP, Hispanic/Latino and FRL students in math by 15% as measured by Spring 2009 CRT Exams.

Goal 3
All students will improve writing skills.

Objective(s):
The number of students identified as "meeting or exceeding proficiency" in the content area of writing will increase by 20% as measured by the Spring 2009 5th Grade Writing Proficiency Exam.
