Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
Natchez Elementary School was the recipient of several grants and realized many accomplishments.
  • Natchez Elementary School was a recipient of an SB185 grant that was used to hire a reading and math remediation teacher.
  • Natchez was the recipient of a $100,000 21st Century After-School Program grant.
  • Natchez was the recipient of a $68,999.00 Save the Children grant.
  • The staff continued the RTI process and developed several site based documents to support the process.
  • Natchez was named a Model Literacy Site for the fifth year through Save the Children.
  • Natchez met all AYP targets in the 07-08 school year.
  • The staff was trained on Marzano’s effective strategies and is in the 4th year of the district’s T4S data collection.
  • Natchez Elementary School has become completely solar powered in partnership with Black Rock Solar.
  • We are very proud of our students and families for their dedication to our school community.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Increase literacy proficiency, including reading and writing, for all students by the end of the 2008-2009 school year.

Objective(s):
The percentage of proficient students as measured by the 2008-2009 state CRT in reading will increase; it will be the same as or greater than 54% for all 3rd through 6th grade students.

Goal 2
Increase math proficiency for all students by the end of the 2008-2009 school year.

Objective(s):
The percentage of proficient students in the total population as measured by the 2008-2009 state CRT in 1st through 6th grade math will increase to 58%.  58% of first through sixth graders will be on grade level as measured with the District math assessment when evaluated at the end of May, 2009.
