Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century.

Highlights
With the help of our generous Sun Valley and Reno communities, Sun Valley Elementary School is able to provide an education that offers intervention and enrichment to all students.
  • Sun Valley's 5th grade students attended science camp withdonations from Reno Central Rotary Club, PTA, and Hobey's Casino.
  • Lifestyle Homes contributed to funding a Kinder Amiga who provides additional bilingual instruction to kindergarten students.
  • PBS allows students to cash in "Paw Points" at the school store. PTA, Optimist and Kiwani's Clubs provide incentives.
  • Parents initiated school uniforms. PTA and the 20/30 Club donated new uniform shirts, pants, and shoes to students in need.
  • State and Federal Programs fund our new preschool. Edujobs funded a certificated intervention teacher and 3 classroom aides.
  • Title I and Team-Up funded academic intervention classes after school, on Saturdays, and during intercessions.
  • Our new bilingual Parent Involvement Facilitator provides opportunities for all families to become engaged in Sun Valley ES.
  • Sun Valley's ELL students met Nevada's AMAO for Progress and Proficiency in English. Parent ESL classes are offered on site.
  • Our Achievement Steering Committee provides feedback and support focusing on quality instruction and student achievement.
