The mission of Sun Valley Elementary is to ensure our children be readers, writers and problem solvers who achieve and value life long learning and personal success.- One certified staff member became National Board Certified this year.
- Three certified staff members completed their Master’s Degree in Literacy through the Lemelson cohort.
- We received $35,000 in remediation funds for professional development and materials needed to improve student achievement
- Our staff development focused on quality core instruction in reading, math and writing
- Our staff participated in professional development to learn about RTI and how to provide quality interventions for students
- Our school PTA restarted this year; creating a much needed partnership between parents and staff
- Our jog-a-thon fundraiser provided enough money to fund a certified PE teacher
- Ninety-six percent of our families attended our annual parent/teacher conferences in October
- Our School Support Team has provided valuable feedback and support focusing on quality instruction and student achievement

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Our LEP, IEP, Hispanic and FRL students will increase language skills especially in the area of comprehension.
Objective(s): Third through sixth grade LEP, IEP, Hispanic, and FRL students identified as emerging or approaching standard in the content area of comprehension will decrease by 10% as measured by the State CRT test in spring 2009.
Goal 2 All students will increase their mathematical skills especially in the area of data analysis and problem solving.
Objective(s): Third through sixth grade FRL, IEP, LEP, White, and Hispanic students identified as emergent or approaching in the content area of data analysis and problem solving will increase proficiency by 10% as measured by the State CRT assessment in spring 2009.
Goal 3 All students will increase their writing proficiency.
Objective(s): 20% of fifth grade students will score a 12 or higher on the State Writing assessment given in January, 2009.
