LVES staff members continue to provide effective instruction to meet the needs of all learners by using data to drive instruction to ensure all students show growth within all subject areas.- Focusing on bridging the achievement gap by implementing daily interventions, ability grouping and enrichment blocks.
- Continued our efforts with teacher professional development with a focus on sheltered instructional strategies and writing.
- We implemented school wide studentuniforms creating a positive school culture and climate.
- Professional Learning Communities meet weekly to discuss data and instructional strategies.
- All LVES subgroups met the level of proficiency in Math and Reading for the 2009-2010 school year.
- LVES was awarded monies from the Van Sickle Found. to provide writing tutoring after school for 5th grade students.
- Our school counselor continues to implement our Peace Pal Program to include lessons on how to conduct peer mediations.
- Positive Behavior Support program continues to flourish at our school promoting appropriate behaviors
- Successful implementation of a teacher-student mentor program for students needing behavioral support

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase student achievement in reading and writing for all students and closing the gaps for our non-proficient students.
Objective(s): The 2009-2010 AYP report shows that 70% of all students were proficient in ELA, above the target of 64%. LV will increase the number of proficient students overall by 10% as measured by the 2010-2011 state CRT in reading and the 2010-2011 state writing exam.
Goal 2 Increase student achievement in Math for all students and closing the gaps for our non-proficient students.

Goal 3 Increase positive behavior school wide and increase intervention supports.
Objective(s): Decrease the number of office referrals in 2010-2011 by 20% overall, and increase the number of positive behavior slips given to students and calls home to parents reinforcing the positive behaviors expected at our school. Provide positive behavior interventions for individual students.
