Huffaker Elementary continues to be committed to high academic achievement through strong staff development, valued parent involvement and meaningful student incentive programs.- The annual Jog-a-Thon was a huge success, raising over $40,000 for special programs.
- Over 200 students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades qualified for our Gold and Silver Honor Rolls each quarter.
- Hawk Hooray assemblies were held to recognize student improvement in behavior and academics.
- Staff met in Professional Learning Communities twice a month to Improve Student Achievement through academic intervention.
- Huffaker refined the IAT (Intervetion Assistance Team) to develop interventions and track students in the lowest 10%.
- Huffaker improved by 11% on the State Writing Assessment.
- Huffaker received the SB185 grant to implement a tutoring program to increase student achievement in reading and math.
- Huffaker has increased the number of interactive white boards in classrooms to improve and enhance instruction.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase writing proficiency for all students in every subgroup by the end of 2008/2009 school year.
Objective(s): Students approaching or developing proficiency in the area of writing will increase their proficiency by 10% as measured by the 5th grade state writing assessment.
Goal 2 Increase reading proficiency for all students in every subgroup by the end of the 2008/2009 school year.
Objective(s): Students identified as approaching or developing proficiency in the content area of reading comprehension will increase their comprehension by 10% as measured by the Nevada CRTs in 3rd,4th ,5th and 6th grade in February/March 2009.
Goal 3 Increase math proficiency for all students in every subgroup by the end of the 2008/2009 school year.
Objective(s): Students approaching or developing proficiency in math will increase proficiency in their ability to extrapolate data from tables or solve a problem using data in a graph by 10% as measured by the state CRTs.
