Juniper Elementary believes in educating the whole child. Our goal is to produce smart, happy and healthy kids.- Professional Learning Community forum for continual improvement to ensure student achievement
- Washoe Education Foundation grant provides funding for salaries, materials, and staff development for tutoring in literacy
- SB 185 grant funded an instructional coach, full day kindergarten teacher, and teacher assistant positions
- Student awards earned quarterly: Scholarship, Friendship, Effort, Academics and Attendance.
- Community Partners: Sparks Target, Baring Blvd. 7/11, Tropical Penquin Scuba; volunteers and inkind/monetary donations
- Student Leadership:School Improvement projects – No Bullying campaign; book, food and clothing drives
- Juniper Joy Choir, Bingo For Books, Math/Science Expo, Picnic in the Park, Academic/Literacy Expo, Field Day, & Talent Show
- Read and Succeed volunteers, university tutors, practicum students, and parent volunteers support student academic growth
- Dedicated and hard-working classified staff supporting students' education and well-being

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Reading: Students demonstrate growth from year to year in fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and informational text.
Objective(s): 75% of students in the content area of reading will be proficient (scoring 75% or above) as measured by the WCSD, and state reading diagnostic tests by May 2009. Currently, test results show 57% of students are proficient in reading.
Goal 2 Math: Students exhibit growth in the areas of basic computation, problem solving, geometry, probability, and statistics
Objective(s): 85% of all students in the content area of math will increase their overall math skills to proficient (scoring 75% or above), as measured by the WCSD and state diagnostic tests by May 2008. Currently, test results show 67% of students are proficient in math.
Goal 3 Writing: Students are proficient (voice, conventions, ideas, organization) on writing samples and the state writing exam
Objective(s): 75% of all students will demonstrate writing skills as defined by traits (voice, conventions, ideas, organization) to the level of 3 or above, as measured by various writing samples, including the state Writing Exam, 2009. Currently, test results show that 54% of students are proficient in writing
