Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century.
 
Highlights
Florence Drake Elementary School continues to improve in the areas of student achievement parental involvement and student conduct.
  • Florence Drake has created an active parents club that has provided valuable direction in creating a powerful school vision.
  • The Drake Family contributed over $1,000 for school literacy and mathematics materials.
  • We hosted our annual Math and Literacy Nights providing families with supportive materials/games.
  • We used our early-release days to refine implementation of the district sponsored SLF program for improved instruction.
  • Over 100 students participated in the before/after school tutoring program.
  • Over 80 students participated in our science fair.
  • Florence Drake formative data system has become a driving force in our directional decision for instruction.
  • Drake hosted Space Day in cooperation The Challenger Center. Over 300 students participated in this event.
  • Florence Drake has continued its computer based after-school literacy and math tutorial program.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Improve student achievement in reading as measured by the district pathway performance indicators.

Objective(s):
This target/goal will be measured by the attainment of the proficiency level targets identified below:
This year, at least 75% of 3rd graders 48% of 5th graders and at least 72% of all students will meet or exceed the target scores as measured by the Nevada Reading CRT.

Goal 2
Improve student achievement in math as measured by the district pathway performance indicators.

Objective(s):
This target/goal will be measured by the attainment of the proficiency level targets identified below:
This year, at least 84% of 3rd graders 87% of 5th graders and at least 83% of all students will meet or exceed the target scores as measured by the Nevada Math CRT

Goal 3
Improve student achievement in writing as measured by the district pathway performance indicators.

Objective(s):
This target/goal will be measured by the attainment of the proficiency level targets identified below:
This year, at least 39% of 5th graders will meet or exceed target levels on the state writing exam.
