Alice Maxwell is a neighborhood school committed to the academic success of all students. Our teachers use research based, data-driven instruction to reach all learners and maximize growth.- Lifestyle Homes Foundation generously donated money to provide for a "Kinder-Amiga", a bilingual aid for our Kindergarten.
- Title I and ESL funds were used to provide each grade level an assistant to support students academically.
- Title I money allowed us to train all of our teachers in GLAD to enhance the learning success of all of our students.
- Title I money provided funds for our Parent Involvement Facilitator.
- Received a Fresh Fruits and Vegetables grant which provided weekly opportunities for students to sample healthy snacks.
- Grants from Great Basin Outdoor School and Nevada Audubon Society allowed our 6th graders to attend a 4 day science camp.
- Title I Money was used to support structured home visits to encourage school/parent communication.
- Teachers used Early Release Wednesdays to meet in PLC's, analyze data and plan instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Provided afterschool enrichment classes and academic support classes by partnering with the21st Century/Team up grant.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase the number of students proficient in English/Language Arts to 64% or higher.
Objective(s): All students will receive rigorous Tier I reading instruction for 90 minutes per day. Reading instruction will be supplemented with GLAD/SIOP strategies. Struggling students will be supported through targeted small group interventions determined during data/RTI meetings.
Goal 2 Increase the number of students proficient on the 5th grade writing test to 64% or higher.
Objective(s): Implement a school-wide writing program using process traits, writing rubrics and released state narrative writing prompts. Writing instruction will be increased to 120 min per week, and students will use writing in all subject areas. 5th grade students will be offered an afterschool writing club.
Goal 3 Increase the number of students proficient in Math to 66% or higher.
Objective(s): Implement a 60-90 min. Math block school wide incorporating the 5 Elements of Effective instruction. Teachers will be given support/PD to learn effective methods of incorporating manipulatives and web resources to instruct students. Teachers will follow a common grade level pacing guide.
