Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century.

Highlights
Sierra Vista continues to focus on academic and behavioral achievement for every student at his or her highest potential. We differentiate academic and behavior interventions as needed.
  • Sierra Vista implemented an afterschool GED program taught by Sierra Vista staff. Parents and community members participate.
  • SV worked with Computercorps of America; trained parents on computer literacy skills and 15 families received computers.
  • Sierra Vista implemented a school-wide writing focus partnering with the district's implementation specialists.
  • We are in our first year of PBS, transforming our school culture through positive reinforcement.
  • Sierra Vista successfully implemented MAP assessments and used the data regularly in PLCs, PBS and IAT meetings.
  • Through a Healthy Generations grant our students enjoyed fresh fruit weekly and our staff participates in exercise classes.
  • We are in our second year of the 21st Century grant, supporting 100 students with academic and enrichment programs.
  • Bob Lissner donated 25 restored computers into our classrooms which supported all learners.
  • Our Home Visit Program expanded to Hugs and Mugs which involved parents going out into our community.
