The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century. |

This year Roy Gomm was recognized for Improving Student Achievement levels, specifically for strong performance overall and improvement in the area of mathematics.- We started a Green E Club that conducted monthly environmentally friendly activities including recycling and gardening.
- This year we received a grant to hire two teachers to do enrichment and intervention with students in the areas of reading and math.
- Our students participated in the Run for Education. We were awarded $1750 to spend towards physical education at our school.
- Our librarian orchestrated a summer reading program that culminated in a picnic for over 200 students who participated.
- During our annual Penny Harvest, our children raised $1,656 to donate to the Food Bank to be used for their Backpack Program.
- We recognized and celebrated different cultures during our annual Multicultural Week.
- In the fall we held our annual Gopher Day Celebration. This family-fun carnival was a great success.
- The PFA’s annual Denim and Spring event raised $77,000 to directly support our educational programs at Roy Gomm.
- We once again ended our school year by celebrating with a Field Day and the Gomm Family Hug.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Improve student achievement in math as measured by the district pathway performance indicators and Nevada Math CRTs.
Objective(s): This year at least 97% of 3rd graders, 85% of 5th graders, and at least 70% of all students will meet the standards as measured by the Nevada CRTs. Also, at least 67% of 3rd graders and 20% of 5th graders will exceed standards as measured by the Nevada CRTs.
Goal 2 Improve student achievement in reading as measured by the district pathway performance indicators and Nevada ELA CRTs.
Objective(s): This year at least 95% of 3rd graders, 78% of 5th graders, and at least 70 % of all students will meet the standards as measured by the Nevada CRTs. Also, at least 56% of 3rd graders and 30% of 5th graders will exceed standards as measured by the Nevada CRTs.
Goal 3 Improve student achievement in writing as measured by the district performance indicators and the state writing exam.
Objective(s): This year at least 74% or 5th graders will meet the target score as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam. Also, at least 13% of 5th graders will exceed standards as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam.
