The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community. |

We have so much to be proud of this year. Our campus is more "Respectful, Responsible and Safe" thanks to our new behavior plan. Students continue to increase achievement in all academic areas.- Response to Intervention (RTI): Students who are struggling academically receive extra instruction in target ares.
- Academic Enrichment: Master schedule designates enrichment time for students who are at or above grade level.
- 6th Grade Block Schedule: In preparation for middle school, 6th graders changed classes and were graded by four teachers.
- Positive Behavior Support (PBS): Expectations for behavior are reviewed regularly. Students earn rewards for good behavior.
- Special Education Preschool Program: Two new sessions of preschool for students with special needs were added this year.
- Outdoor Education: 6th graders attended camp at Lake Tahoe. 5th graders camped near Portola.
- Art Instruction: Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) subsidized professional art instruction for students at all grade levels.
- Music Instruction: Every student participated in at least one music performance this year.
- Choir: The Double Diamond Choir, with over 125 members, performed at UNR basketball games and at the Nevada Art Museum.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Students identified as emergent or approaching in reading will show growth, especially IEP, ELL,and high risk students.
Objective(s): Students identified as emergent or approaching in reading comprehension and fluency will increase their mathematical ability to problem solve to approaching or meeting standards as measured by CBM, WCSD benchmark aseessments and state CRTs.
Goal 2 Students identified as emergent or approaching in math will show growth, especially IEP, ELL, and high risk students.
Objective(s): Students identified as emergent or approaching in the content area of math will increase their mathematical ability to problem solve to approaching or meeting standards as measured by CBM, WCSD benchmark assessments and state CRTs.
Goal 3 All students will understand the school-wide expectations for appropriate behavior.
Objective(s): Discipline problems will be reduced as evidenced by a reduction in the number of discipline citations issued.
