Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
2008-09 brought new opportunities to Mount Rose ES resulting in positive experiences and outcomes for all. These programs have expanded the wide range of diversity within our student body.
  • SWPositive Behavior Support promotes a more positive climate for a more effective learning environment for our school.
  • The Two Way Immersion Preschool introduced a bilingual educational experience for our four year olds.
  • The SWAS, School Within a School, multi-talented 4th/5th/6th graders participate in an accelerated educational classroom.
  • The highly dedicated MRES staff have continued to expand their professional expertise in literacy.
  • Our 5th graders set an all time record with a high rate of 78.6% achievement of proficiency on the state writing assessment.
  • Our ESL students exceeded the AMAO #1 and met the AMAO #2 requirements for the year.
  • School events and fundraisers were sponsored by Paw Pride Parents, our parent organization, and enjoyed by many.
  • We celebrate student academic performance and outstanding citizenship in our quarterly assemblies.
  • The 2nd year refinements to the Response to Intervention process benefits many students.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Goal 1: To increase the percentage of all students achieving proficiency in reading.

Objective(s):
Objective: In reading, 10% of 3rd-6th grade students in the Approaches Standard group will reach Meets or Exceeds Standards as measured by CRT scores.

Goal 2
Goal 2: To increase the percentage of all students achieving proficiency in math.

Objective(s):
Objective: In math, 10% of 3rd-6th grade students in the Approaches Standard group will reach Meets or Exceeds Standards as measured by CRT scores.

Goal 3
Goal 3: To increase the percentage of students achieving proficiency in writing.

Objective(s):
Objective: The number of students in 5th grade achieving proficiency in writing will increase by 10%.
