Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
•      Jessie Beck continues to strive toward success and has accomplished many goals for this year!
  • •      We implemented WCSD’s first Two Way Immersion classroom! Our vision is: “Two Languages, Two Worlds of Opportunity"
  • •      Our staff maintains an intense focus on student achievement, with  efforts put in for analyzing data through Edusoft.
  • •      We wrote the SB 185 grant to maintain 1certified Instructional Coach and .5 Response to Intervention Specialist
  • •      Jessie Beck participated in the Run For Education, raising $2,500 for P.E. equipment and our Soccer Team.
  • •      Beck ES had another successful year in the intramural soccer league with the help of our coach/parent, Barry Wardell
  • •      Parents and families continue to play an integral part in the school's success with our PFA’s dedication to our school
  • •      Student of the month recognition was held monthly and sponsored by Port of Subs on Plumb Lane
  • •      Every staff member participated in Professional Development this year!
  • •      Building improvements included new soccer goals and an upgraded alarm system.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
•      Increase reading proficiency in grades 3-6, specifically in each disaggregated group tested.

Objective(s):
Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth grade students identified as approaching or developing proficiency in the content area of reading will increase their proficiency level by 10% as measured by the State Criterion Referenced Tests.

Goal 2
•      Increase math proficiency levels in grades three through six.

Objective(s):
Third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students identified as approaching or developing proficiency in the content area of math will increase their math proficiency level by 10% as measured by the State Criterion Referenced Tests.

Goal 3
•      Increase writing proficiency levels in grades three through six.

Objective(s):
Fifth grade students identified as approaching proficiency in the content area of writing will increase their writing proficiency level by one step (20%), as measured by the State Analytic Writing Exam.
