Yerington Intermediate is a school of 375 students in grades 5-8. We are proud of our diverse student population and theiraccomplishments in academics, the arts, atheletics and community service.- Over 300 students were recognized and awarded for their accomplishments on the CRTs and 8students who scored a 500.
- Honor Society students make bimontly visits to the senior center and 12 Silver Scholar students were recognized at UNR.
- Over 80% of YIS students are involved in music, band, choir, guitar, drama, and Academic Olympics.
- 10 staff membersare partof the Instructional Consultation team to assist struggling students and help classroom teachers.
- YIS students raised over $570, made foodbaskets for the holidays, and held clothing drives to assist the needy.
- YIS 7th grade boys basketball and 7th grade girls volleyball were Sagebrush League champions.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 All YIS students will increase 15-20% in math achievement with focus on DOK 2/ 3 levels as measured by 2011 CRT data.
Objective(s): Between September 2010 and April 2011, student performance in Math for subgroups(white)performing at or above target will increase 5-10% based on 2009-2010 levels. Subgroups performing below target (Native American and IEP) will increase 15-20% based on 2009-2010 levels.
Goal 2 All YIS students will increase 15-20% in ELA achievement with DOK2focus as measured by 2011 CRT data.
Objective(s): Between September 2010 and April 2010, white subpopulation will increase at least 10.2% as measured by CRT data to keep pace with the average growth of the other subpopulations. Correct responses on DOK 2 will increase to 80% and constructed response to 70% on the CRTs.
Goal 3 65% of 5th gradersand 75% of 8th graders will be proficient on the 2011 Nevada State Writing Proficiency Exam.
Objective(s): Between September 2010 and January/February 2011 59 or more 5th graders and 55 or more 8th graders will score proficient as measured by the state analytic scoring rubric.
