Sutro Elementary School stafffocuses on systematic data analysisof student achievment. We are committed to increasing instructional rigorusing Depth of Knowledge and Marzano Stategies.- 25% of the Nationally Board Certified teachers in Lyon County School District are educators at Sutro Elementary School.
- Boys and Girls Club, in collaboration with Sutro staff, have established a before and after school tutoring program.
- Students at Sutro participate four days a week in remediation and enrichment activitiesto further their academic growth.
- Teachers K-5 use Measure of Academic Progress data to conference with parents, collaborate with peers, and plan instruction.
- Students K-5 participate infocused remediation and enrichment activities three times a week in the computer labs.
- Weekly Late Start Professional Development is vital tocommunicate andcollaborate onbest teaching practiceswithstaff.
- Sutro's Food for Thought Back Pack Program and Emergency Food Pantry servesindividual students andfamilies with meals.
- Sutro hosts the Food Bank Commodities Distribution for the community monthly, from January through June.
- To increase student engagement and best teaching practices, Sutro teachers use Laptops, Elmo's, Elmo Tablets and I-Touches.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase achievement in Core subjects to meet or exceed 2011 CRTproficiency targetsand move toward 2012 expectations.
Objective(s): Student performance in reading and math will increase 5-10%. Emphasis will be placed on increasing MAP scores in reading and math strands sufficient to meet or exceed grade appropriate growth targets.Student performance in writing will increase by 20-25% of students demonstrating proficiency.
Goal 2 Strengthen instructional rigor to increase student performance at DOK 2 and DOK 3 using data and State Standards.
Objective(s): Demonstrate improved instructional rigor monitored by Classroom Walk Through Data and increased student performance on DOK 2 and DOK 3 as measured by CRT's.
