Mission Statement
The mission of Cottonwood Elementary School is to ensure that all members of our school community are accepted, appreciated, nurtured, and challenged according to their individual needs. Our goal is for all students to reach their maximum potential and to provide a solid foundation of skills, knowledge, and values.
 
Highlights
Cottonwood Elementary provides quality instruction, enrichment, and remediation for all of our students. Our staff particpates in professional development geared toward our SIP goals and objectives.
  • CES improved the instructional time maximized measured by T4S observations of student engagment to 79%.
  • CES has identified students in first through fourth grades to receive remediation for English Language Arts and Math.
  • CES provided a one day kindergarten camp for our incoming kindergarten students to get them accustomed to coming to school.
  • All students participate in SOAR(self-control, organization, attitude, respect) to successquarterly for positive behavior.
  • CES provides targeted instruction using essential skills for identified students.
  • CES implemented the Instructional Consultation Model. 80% of the teachers have used it, with 100% of the team taking cases.
  • CES implemented a new version of Accelerated Reader to promote reading in all grades.
  • CES has developed a wall of fame for students who have achieved a level of excellence on the CRT.
  • CES demostrated proficiency of 67.3% in English Language Arts and 75.4% in Math on the CRT.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
All students at CESwill increase achievement in Mathematics in all content clusters asmeasured byMAP and CRT results.

Objective(s):
Student performance in number sense, measurement, and geometry will increase proficiency by 20% for IEP and FRL students and a 6% increase for all students.

Goal 2
All students at CES will increase achievement in ELA in all content clusters as measured by the MAP and CRT scores.

Objective(s):
Student performance in English Language Arts with an emphasis on word analysis skills and strategies, comprehension, interpretation and evaluation of literature and informational text, will increase proficiency by 20% for IEP and FRL students and a 12% increase for all students.
