Winnemucca Junior High School strives to provide our students with a high quality education that is driven by student involvement and predicated on the desire of all stakeholders to create productive, independent-thinking individuals. This essential task is accomplished through the dedication of our students, staff, parents and administration. A standards based curriculum that incorporates the practices of a Professional Learning Community along with a variety of educational resources and the availability of numerous extra-curricular opportunities enables our students to receive a well-rounded education that ultimately helps them to succeed at their next educational level. |

This has been a very positive and productive year at the Winnemucca Junior High. Students have been very involved in school activities and have demonstraited strong achievement.- Teachers use a common prep period at the end of the day for PLC meetings and review of achievement and test data.
- Honors programs for students with a 3.0 GPA or better. Forty six percent of the student body was honored.
- Our extra-curricular programs allow student to experience a variety of social, academic, and athletic opportunities.
- Celebration dances to honor student achievement.
- The school runs a systematic intervention program that provides students with immediate assistance through astudy hall.
- Our school is offering credit via A+ for students who have failed course work during the year.
- Student council attended a high school led conference, and will attend the mid-level conference this spring.
- Maps data has been analyzed by staff and appropriatesteps have beentaken to help with student abilityplacement.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1
Use Maps datamore effectively to focus instruction on specific students and areas of need.
Objective(s):
Teachers will have a common prep for PLCand be supplied with all the Maps data and training to help ensure that we focus on appropriate areas of need. On going training will be continued so as to get the most out of the Maps data.
Goal 2
Create more options to help students who are struggling,while challenging studentswho are excelling.
Objective(s):
Implement our A+ program with our ongoing pullout program. All students failing in core areas will be pulled from their elective and receive remedial help and the option of A+ course work in conjunction with their regular classroom curriculum. A+ willbe offered to advanced students for HS credit.
