Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School is proud of the many outstanding and noteworthy achievements during 2010-11 in the areas of academics and extra-curricular activities. Some of the major highlights include:- Pau-Wa-Lu students, as a whole, score above district & state averages in reading, writing, & science on the CRT assessment.
- Pau-Wa-Lu students, as a whole and within all subpopulations, demonstrated growth in reading on the CRT assessment.
- 7th, 8th, and 9th graders scored above the Fall Target MAP Benchmark in reading, language, mathematics, and science.
- On average, 8th & 9th graders made expected growth in reading, language, math and science on the 2010 Fall MAP assessment.
- 21% of Pau-Wa-Lu students are enrolled in advanced placement math courses.
- Pau-Wa-Lu inducted 41 students into the National Junior Honor Society.
- 207 students are participating in the Actions Program; a program recognizing students for excellence in education.
- Pau-Wa-Lu has 40 students participating in Safe School Ambassadors; a bully prevention and student leadership program.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase achievement, as a school and within all sub-populations, in the area of mathematics.
Objective(s): All subpopulations will demonstrate an increase in the mathematics PAC rate by at least 5% and demonstrate growth within the Data Analysis strand.
Goal 2 Increase achievement, as a school and within all sub-populations, in the area of English language arts.
Objective(s): All subpopulations will demonstrate an increase in the English language arts PAC rate by at least 5%, demonstrate growth in analyzing information text, and demonstrate at least 5% growth in the area of writing as measured by the 8th grade writing assessment.
Goal 3 Promote a positive school culture focused on developing strong student-staff and student-school connections.
Objective(s): Student perception survey data will reflect an improvement in the number of students involved in activities and who feel they can talk to an adult on campus regarding problems.
