The mission of Cowan Behavior Junior/Senior High School is to provide each student with an effective behavioral intervention in a safe, healthy, and structured learning environment. This environment will include the provision of a challenging academic program directly linked to the modeling of positive social skills by all who work here. |

Cowan Behavior Jr/Sr High School is proud to have served students facing a variety of academic and social barriers, many of whom displayed outstanding growth during the 2010-2011 school year.- CBS continued the 8th grade Back-On-Track program to assist 15-16 year old students to be promoted to high school.
- PAYBAC community speakers spoke to the student body about post-school employment options.
- Students enrolled in Success Highways, a program to promote resiliency and the ability to make better social choices.
- 100% of students required to take CRT's, as well as the NHSPE, were tested.
- CBS implemented the second annual Math Camp for students preparing to take the NHSPE (math portion).
- CBS continued the Reading Proficiency Tutoring Program to prepare students for the NHSPE (reading portion).
- CBS implemented Depth of Knowledge (DOK) to promote higher levels of student academic achievement.
- A new Attendance Incentive Plan was implemented to increase overall average daily attendance (ADA).
- Online Discipline and Technology Forums were created to promote efficient and collaborative professional communication.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Average Daily Attendance (ADA) will increase with the addition of Perfect Attendance Field Days and weekly raffles.
Objective(s): ADA will increase by at least 1% during the 2010-2011 school year.
Goal 2 Students with perfect attendance during the administering of the CRT/Proficiencies will be entered into a raffle.
Objective(s): Student participation during all standardized testing will be equal to or exceed 95%.
Goal 3 Three Math Camps and after-school tutoring will be implemented throughout the 2010-2011 school year.
Objective(s): 6th and 10th graders will increase P-Values to meet or exceed district/state scores on three specific standards in mathematics.
