Mission Statement
The mission of Washington Continuation School is to provide each student with an effective behavioral intervention within a safe, healthy, and structured learning environment. This environment will include the provision of a challenging academic program directly linked to the modeling of positive social skills by all who work here.
 
Highlights
Washington Continuation is proud to highlight the following accomplishments:
  • Adequate Yearly Progress was demonstrated in math, English language arts, and attendance during the 2009-2010 school year.
  • Students used Compass Learning, SkillsTutor, and A+ to improve skills in all academics and to improve test scores.
  • Before- and after-school tutoring was available to provide students with remediation in all subject areas.
  • Washington Continuation provided all students with a challenging academic program within a structured learning environment.
  • All teachers used "Love and Logic" methods for classroom management to create and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Teachers and staff attended a comprehensive seminar in "Love and Logic."
  • Teachers attended High Quality Sheltered Instruction training to better address needs of second language students.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Washington Continuation students will improve their achievement in mathematics.

Objective(s):
The number of students who are non-proficient in mathematics will decrease by 10% as measured by the March 2011 Criterion Referenced Test.

Goal 2
8th and 9th grade students will increase average daily attendance as determined by the 2010-2011 end of year report.

Objective(s):
Average daily attendance (ADA) will be recorded and end of month attendance reports will be reviewed to verify that ADA is greater than 71.07%, the recorded ADA for the 09-10 school year.
