Helen J. Stewart provides students with learning activities to develop daily living, vocational, communication, social, and functional academic skills. We believe the use of a comprehensive Community Based Instruction program is essential to the generalization of these skills. |

HJS embraces the vision that all students can develop the skills necessary to become participating members of their communities.- The average daily attendance rate was consistently over 90%.
- 100% of students participated in the state-required Nevada Alternate Assessment (NAA).
- Students from Valley and Las Vegas HS provided peer interaction opportunities.
- HJS received over $10,000.00 in community donations to support community-based instruction and student activities.
- Every student accessed instruction through SmartBoard technology.
- $400,000.00 in ARRA funds provided instructional resources in communication, daily living, technology, and parent trainings.
- We hosted a Special School Expo introducing families to over 30 agencies that serve students with disabilities.
- Over 35 community partnerships were developed, expanded, and maintained to assist students to generalize vocational skills.
- Almost $1,000.00 was generated in school-wide recycling efforts.

Goal 2 Utilize alternative communication strategies to progress to the next level on hierarchy scale.
Objective(s): 60% of the students will either maintain or progress to the next level on the Helen J. Stewart School Communication Phase Scale.
Goal 3 Recognize and/or read/match and/or write numerals.
Objective(s): Using the Pre and Post Helen J. Stewart Math Data, 80% of the students will recognize more numerals.
