SW Behavior School is in its seventh full year of operation and strives to be the best of the five CCSD behavior schools. The following highlights show how we are meeting this challenge:- Students improve attendance & achievement by making up assignments in mandatory tutoring sessions before or after school.
- A Peer Mediation/Conflict Management $4300 state grant funded six 2.5 hour ParenTeen Solutions classes for 4 cycles.
- Straight A's & Perfect Attendance were awarded at the end of the students' term and students emulated these accomplishments
- A $500 grant funded quarterly MS & HS good citizenship awards given in ceremonies attended by students and parents.
- Evening ELL classes & weekend Tzu Chi Foundation classes were held for adults who teach non English speaking students.
- Students needing community service hours worked with the custodian or office personnel to fulfill probation requirements.
- Fifty computers were added for student access to programs like Read 180 or Compass Learning to increase academic achievement.
- Staff attended paid Saturday workshops for CPI(crisis prevention), CHAMPs,& a school-day ELL sheltered instruction workshop.
- Monte Vista & other community resources were introduced as resources to help parents find effective options.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Students will improve their academic progress during the brief time spent at the SW Behavior School.
Objective(s): Student's overall grades will increase and reflect a one point GPA growth from student's incoming grades to their final grades. This will be calculated by a random sampling of 5% of GPAs from the entire population. No F grades are allowed when students are released so they remain until passing.
Goal 2 Students' average daily attendance will increase from last year's rate to make AYP this year.
Objective(s): To encourage better attendance and achievement, students are required to attend mandatory tutoring before and after school to make up time and missing assignments.
Goal 3 Students will improve their behavior and learn skills to be successful in their comprehensive schools.
Objective(s): By taking proactive steps with staff members, student referrals, RPCs or suspensions for the year compared with those figures from the past school year will decrease by 5%.
