Mission Statement
The mission of the Northwest Career and Technical Academy is to boldly educate today's learners for tomorrow's challenges by developing advanced skills through unique hands-on experiences in a professional setting, utilizing community partnerships, innovative ideas, and contemporary technologies.
 
Highlights
NWCTA is a fully accredited high school in its fourth year of operation. The class of 2010 had a drop rate of .5%. This year a full-time kindergarten program was added to the high school.
  • NWCTA was named a Magnet School of Distinction for the second year in a row by the Magnet Schools of America Association.
  • NWCTA is the only high school in Nevada to be a certified site for Project Lead The Way, a national engineering curriculum.
  • NWCTA is the only high school in Nevada with a full-time kindergarten program on campus.
  • In November 2010 computer teacher Vicki Miller became Nationally Board Certified in Business Marketing & Entrepreneurship.
  • NWCTA has over 36 clubs and organizations on campus.
  • Our current daily attendance rate is 97%.
  • Fall semester 595 students were on the "A/B" honor roll.
  • Currently NWCTA offers ten different Advanced Placement Courses.
  • The pass rate of the NHSPE for the class of 2010 was 97%.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
NWCTA will continue to engage students in problem solving and thinking skills for an authentic application of knowledge.

Objective(s):
NWCTA will improve student success in math, science, and English by a minimum of 3% for all subgroups that fall below the 5% school average, specifically in the African American, IEP, and FRL populations.

Goal 2
The professional staff collaborates within & across departments or grade levels in support of learning for all students.

Objective(s):
NWCTA Interdisciplinary Team (IT) will meet twice monthly to coordinate and schedule projects and curriculum activities to balance student work load.
