Mission Statement
The mission of Virgin Valley High School is to enable students to achieve academic excellence through challenging instruction in a nurturing school community, to develop a lifelong love of learning, to attain enriching personal goals, and to become productive members of an ever-changing society.
 
Highlights
Virgin Valley High School (VVHS) was designated High Achieving in the Adequate Yearly Progress Report. For the past seven years VVHS has been adequate or High Achieving.
  • We had the highest graduation rate of any comprehensive high school in Clark County, 90%.
  • MOE grant funding and CTE grant funding allowed us to provide testing remediation and credit retrieval.
  • VVHS received local cash scholarship donations in the amount of $88,000.00. Scholarships awarded totaled $902,791.00.
  • Credit retrieval programs gave students additional avenues to obtain help and reduce credit deficiency.
  • Advanced Placement provided opportunities for students to obtain college credit and perform well on the SAT/ACT.
  • The class of 2010 had 25 Honors graduates, 11 with a 3.7 or above GPA, and 9 Advanced Diploma graduates.
  • Virgin Valley High School is the home of the 2008, 2009, and 2010 3A state baseball champions.
  • Average pass rate on the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) was: mathematics 90%, science 94%, reading 99.5%.
  • We reduced the number of credit deficient students by 8%.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students will increase achievement in NHSPE in math. Improvement will be made in the 10th grade first time pass rate.

Objective(s):
Between September 2010 and April 2011 all 11th and 10th grade subgroups in mathematics will demonstrate a 10% reduction in the number of non-proficient students.

Goal 2
Students will increase achievement NHSPE in ELA. Improvement will be made in the 10th grade first time pass rate.

Objective(s):
Between September 2010, and April 2011, 11th and 10th grade subgroups in English language assessment will demonstrate a 10% reduction in the number of non-proficient students.
