Mission Statement
Working together, the Sunrise Mountain High School community empowers each student to master academic and social standards, embrace rigor, develop meaningful relationships, graduate, and become a responsible member of a diverse society.
 
Highlights
Sunrise Mountain High School has shown tremendous growth. Students have embraced a more academic focus evidenced by an increase in student achievement and participation in activities and athletics.
  • Report Card Distribution Night was held quarterly to engage students and parents with the teaching staff.
  • A total of 250 people attended the first annual AP/Honors Night to recognize student achievement in rigorous curriculum.
  • A total of 116 students attended a Saturday math and science tutoring session in preparation for state proficiency exams.
  • The Family Engagement Resource Center helped students and families more fully engage in their child's educational progress.
  • The Student Council earned the Blue Star Award by State and was selected for the National Council of Excellence Award.
  • DECA obtained Diamond Level status and had ten students qualify to compete in the national competition in Orlando, Florida.
  • Student athletes tripled the All-State Academic Athlete award winners and doubled the scholar-athletes from previous year.
  • Students wrote and performed a play on the importance of earning credits, passing proficiency exams, and attending school.
  • Quarterly academic reception breakfasts were held to honor student achievement and growth in academic and elective classes.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students will increase achievement in mathematics with a specific focus on DOK levels to meet or exceed the 2011 HSPE.

Objective(s):
Students will demonstrate a decrease in non-proficiency by 10% in mathematics and will demonstrate a reduction in the achievement gap between AYP subgroups by 3% in mathematics.

Goal 2
Students will increase their average daily attendance to meet or exceed proficiency targets measured by AYP.

Objective(s):
Between September 2010 and May 2011, students will maintain a minimum ADA of 90%. Sunrise Mountain High School will decrease the number of students losing credit due to absenteeism by 10%.
