Mission Statement
The mission of the College of Southern Nevada High School is to facilitate the successful transition of our students from high school to post-secondary education.
 
Highlights
Students at the College of Southern Nevada High School apply to our school of choice where they earn dual-credit for their college classes. Some of our highlights are listed below:
  • CSNHS-South was recognized as a ôContinuing Exemplary Schoolö by the Nevada Department of Education.
  • 74% of the CSNHS-South senior class qualified for the Millennium Scholarship.
  • CSNHS-South graduates in 2010 earned $1,386,086.00 dollars in scholarships and financial aid monies.
  • CSNHS-South students who took advantage of 4 semesters of college averaged 38 college credits.
  • CSNHS-South students who took advantage of 4 semesters of college averaged a college GPA of 2.89.
  • Two CSNHS-South 2011 graduates will earn an Associate of Science degree from CSN before graduating from high school.
  • One of our CSNHS-South students serves as a member of the City of Henderson Blue Ribbon Commission.
  • One of our seniors is recognized as one of the top runners-up in The 2011 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards in Nevada.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students at CSNHS-South students will improve their achievement in mathematics.

Objective(s):
CSNHS-South student proficiency in mathematics will be maintained at 97% or higher as measured on the Nevada High School Proficiency Exams by commencement. Skills are measurement, geometry, and conceptual understanding. Teachers will use upper level questioning strategies based on DOK levels 3 & 4.

Goal 2
CSNHS-South students will improve their achievement in reading and writing.

Objective(s):
CSNHS-South student proficiency in reading and writing will be maintained at 100%. Skills are reasoning, justification, investigation and making connections across disciplines. Students will be able to read, evaluate literature, demonstrate a critical stance and employ word analysis skills.
