Mission Statement
In a supportive, rigorous and disciplined environment, Valley High School will empower all students to become lifelong learners and to be positive contributors to the community.
 
Highlights
Valley continues to be a premier high school enhanced by the Hospitality & Tourism and International Baccalaureate magnet programs. Rich in tradition, the Viking family strives to be the best.
  • Ron Montoya was named Nevada Principal of the Year. Mr. Montoya was also a National Finalist for Principal of the Year.
  • Valley HS made AYP for the third consecutive year.
  • The International Baccalaureate program was recognized by the Magnet Schools of America as a School of Excellence.
  • Valley seniors earned more than $8 million in scholarships.
  • There were 62 International Baccalaureate diploma candidates.
  • Hospitality & Tourism and Team Action students partnered with local businesses to provide students with internships.
  • An on-site behavior program, Students Targeted for Academic Reform--On Site (STARon) completed its second successful year.
  • Alumnus, Sylvester Stevenson '05, was drafted to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students will demonstrate increased achievement in core academic areas, reducing the achievement gap among subgroups.

Objective(s):
Hispanic, LEP, and FRL subgroups, identified as approaching standards on the spring 2011 NHSPE, will meet the target or demonstrate a 10% reduction in non-proficiency.

Goal 2
Students in the class of 2011 will demonstrate an increase in the graduation rate as measured by CCSD.

Objective(s):
Students in grades 9-11 will demonstrate a 5% reduction in the number of students who are credit deficient at the start of the 2011-12 school year.
