Mission Statement
Greenspun Junior High School is committed to providing a safe, positive and rigorous learning environment where students can become responsible citizens and life-long learners.
 
Highlights
Greenspun JHS, an inclusive school, supports the individual needs of all students. Curriculum is mastered within unique class structures and many supports are provided to ensure academic success.
  • 79% of Greenspun students met or exceeded Nevada State Standards for ELA proficiency.
  • 76% of Greenspun students met or exceeded Nevada State Standards for math proficiency.
  • Bullying prevention and instruction is a key focus at Greenspun Junior High School.
  • Greenspun earned over $45,000 from Nevada "Partners in Education" for inclusive school practices.
  • Greenspun started a Nevada Watch "DOGS" (Dad Of Great Students) organization in an effort to increase parent involvement.
  • The Greenspun band, choir, and orchestra programs consistently earned superior marks at their festival performances.
  • Greenspun provided numerous sports, clubs, and activities for students to become involved in the school and stay in shape.
  • Greenspun partnered with the Josh Stevens foundation in an effort to recognize students for their acts of kindness.
  • The Greenspun JV Quiz Team won the 2011 Clark County championship over Bob Miller Middle School.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
All students will increase achievement in math to 80% proficiency or above as measured by the spring 2011 CRT.

Objective(s):
Between September 2010 and April 2011, a minimum of 5% improvement will be made in all content clusters in the area of mathematics.

Goal 2
Students will increase achievement in writing to 75% proficient or above as measured by school and proficiency tests.

Objective(s):
Between September 2010 and May 2011, all students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will increase achievement in the writing process as measured by the grade 8 Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam and grades 6-8 final mock proficiency exams.
