The mission of Johnson Junior High School, in partnership with the community, is to challenge and empower students to reach their full potential. |

Walter Johnson JHS is committed to working with students and their families to instill lifelong learning within the classroom. Students are empowered to succeed and reach their maximum potential.- School-wide RTI monitoring provided data to students, increasing their success in the math and reading curricula.
- 365 students participated in Saturday Test Prep Camps in preparation for the 2010-2011 Criterion Referenced Tests.
- Graduate Advocate Program (GAP) was incorporated to assist at-risk 8th grade students with mentoring and monitoring success.
- Accelerated Math, College Ed, Compass Math, Reading Plus, Read 180 and Renzulli Learning were utilized to promote success.
- Daily STPT collaboration enhanced student success through parent/teacher conferences, team and department meetings.
- The Lady Eagles basketball team became regional champions and reached the city semi-finals.
- The school archery team competed and won the state championship and has qualified to compete in nationals in Kentucky.
- Excellent and superior ratings were awarded to all Johnson JHS performing arts groups at the CCSD fine arts festivals.
- Over 50% of the student body participated in extracurricular activities throughout the year, including Special Olympics.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Johnson JHS will institute vertical alignment within the core content areas to instill ongoing student success.
Objective(s): Grades 6 through 8 will show a 10% reduction in non-proficiency in all subgroups in all areas.
Goal 2 School collaboration will address Components of an Effective Lesson, Differentiated Instruction and Depth of Knowledge.
Objective(s): Teachers will show 90% utilization of CEL, DOK and differentiated instruction as well as 90% standardized lessons and common assessments based on the core curriculum.
