Mission Statement
Sandy Valley Middle School and High School will help students achieve academically, demonstrate citizenship, explore possibilities, and take personal responsibility for their decisions.
 
Highlights
Sandy Valley MS and Sandy Valley HS share the same campus with Sandy Valley ES. Students and teachers have the opportunity to see learning expectations from K-12 as well as available activities.
  • Sandy Valley HS met all AYP criteria three years in a row.
  • Sandy Valley HS was recognized for Most Improved ELA-IEP, Most Improved ELA, and Most Improved FRL-ELA.
  • Sandy Valley MS was recognized for making AYP three years in a row.
  • Sandy Valley MS was recognized for Achievement Growth in Math, Most Improved in LEP-Math, Most Improved in FRL-ELA.
  • Middle School student-led conferences were held in January. Approximately 45 parents met with middle school staff.
  • Sandy Valley MS teachers presented their strategies for student success at the 2010 Nevada Mega-Conference in Lake Tahoe.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will show increased achievement in math on the spring 2011 Nevada CRT.

Objective(s):
Professional development and consistent use of assessment-based vocabulary and integration into the curriculum will combined with the use of math notebooks to foster student ownership of learning.

Goal 2
Students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 will show increased achievement in math on the spring 2011 NVHSPE.

Objective(s):
Professional development on math teaching strategies and use of SmartBoard technology will be used in addition to the 2Know Response System for immediate feedback on student understanding.

Goal 3
Focused preparation for high stakes tests at the middle and high school levels will be provided.

Objective(s):
NVHSPE and CRT "Boot Camps" will be provided two weeks prior to the high stakes tests to increase student confidence before they take the tests.
