At Marion Earl Elementary School, the teachers and staff work to accomplish the school's mission. To foster independent and successful students, they must achieve both socially and academically.- Students used technology software Accelerated Reader, Lexia, Study Island and MathFacts in a Flash to improve skills.
- Identified students received tutoring in reading via Clark County Reads volunteers, parents and foster grandparents.
- On-going staff development took place on the use of differentiated instruction and the components of an effective lesson.
- Intermediate students received interactive instruction via SmartBoards, document cameras and classroom responders.
- Math and spelling bees were held for students in grades 1-5 to improve math fact fluency and spelling skills.
- PTA offered after-school clubs including drama, guitar, chess, running, basketball, art and Bookin' & Cookin'.
- An after-school CRT Camp was offered for identified students to improve their reading skills.
- A program designed for reading improvement was offered during the 2010-2011 year for designated fourth and fifth graders.
- Staff received specific training in reading and math strategies designed to enhance student engagement for learning.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Teachers will use research-based strategies to improve instruction and increase student achievement in ELA and math.
Objective(s): Between September 2010 and March 2011, students in grades 3-5 will increase proficiency by 5% in math, attain the reading target of 63.8%, grade 5 students will achieve the writing target of 12 and the subgroups of Hispanic/Latino, LEP and IEP will reduce non-proficient students by 10%.
Goal 2 Via collaboration, staff will analyze results of instruction strategies to modify practices for increased proficiency.
Objective(s): Through collaboration, teachers will identify strategy effectiveness and/or change current practices as measured by a 10% decrease in students within the lowest 10 percentile on the AimsWeb fall benchmarks.
