Mission Statement
Sandy Valley Elementary School will ensure that students achieve academically while demonstrating citizenship, responsibility, and respect for people and property.
 
Highlights
Sandy Valley Elementary School is part of a P-12 campus. Our students have an opportunity to see the academic challenges and extracurricular opportunities throughout their education.
  • Sandy Valley Elementary provided half-day early childhood education and all day kindergarten for our students.
  • Sandy Valley ES provided enhanced learning through the use of computer software, LCD projectors, and video streaming.
  • Sandy Valley ES students participated in the Annual Talent Show, Fall Concert, and Spring Concert.
  • Sandy Valley ES students learned to love reading through Nevada Reading Week and the Scholastic Book Fair.
  • Students were challenged to increase the number of books read to force the librarian and the principal to "eat a bug".
  • Students had a weekly opportunity to hone computer skills by working in the elementary school computer lab.
  • Students participated in a pep rally and assemblies in a K-12 setting to develop school pride and spirit.
  • Students had an opportunity to attend Mini-Cheer Camps and learn cheerleading routines.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students will show increased achievement in ELA (reading) on the spring 2011 Nevada CRT.

Objective(s):
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will show improvement in the content cluster to comprehend, interpret, and evaluate informational text.

Goal 2
Specific improvement will be made by all subgroups in the 5th grade writing proficiency.

Objective(s):
Between September 8th and April 9th, student performance on the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam in the 5th grade will decrease non-proficient students in all subgroups from 62% to 56%.
