Mission Statement
Our mission at Petersen Professional Development School is to work together as a community of learners to increase academic growth and enhance positive social development.
 
Highlights
Dean Petersen Professional Development School is dedicated to working together to improve student achievement. We are dedicated to student success.
  • A master calendar has been adopted to ensure use of allocated learning time is consistently implemented.
  • A tiered RTI model has been initiated for math and reading in all grade levels.
  • Data Teams were implemented school-wide to focus on remediating deficit areas in a cyclical manner.
  • Supplemental Educational Services' tutoring is available for students after school to address deficit areas in math/reading.
  • Positive Behavioral Supports reinforce character traits through Student of the Month, Books and Bonus, and 200 Club.
  • As a Professional Development School, we work collaboratively with UNLV to provide research-based best practices.
  • Two Athletes of the Month were selected from each grade level to promote physical fitness.
  • Peer mediators handled conflict between students on the playground and practiced negotiation skills.
  • A student newscast team provided daily information to students.

Goal 1
The number of non-proficient students in reading will be reduced by 10% as measured by the CRTs.

Objective(s):
The number of non-proficient students in the Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL) subgroups will be reduced by 10% as measured by the CRTs.

The number of non-proficient students in math will be reduced by 10% as measured by the CRTs.
