Hal Smith ES continued its commitment to student achievement by using ARRA and MOE funds for a variety of tutoring programs and parent involvement activities.- Hal Smith ES received $190,230 from ARRA Title I and $6,500 from the Maintenance of Effort (MOE) grant.
- ARRA and MOE funds helped 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders for the Nevada Writing Proficiency and CRT exams through boot camps.
- ARRA funds were used to purchase the Reading A-Z, Study Island, and Dream Box reading and math computer programs.
- ARRA funds were used to provide after-school tutoring to students, Monday through Thursday, in grades K-5.
- Technology bond monies provided our school with 107 new computers and 25 laptops, creating mini computer labs.
- Through a partnership with Toyota Financial Savings Bank, we received $3000 for reading and math materials.
- The Goodie Two Shoes Foundation provided 350 students at Hall Smith ES with a brand new pair of shoes.
- The Junior League of Las Vegas awarded $1000 to Hal Smith for the Caught Being Good, school-wide positive behavior program.
- Math facts masters, from all grade levels, were recognized during morning assembly, monthly.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Differentiated instruction and scaffolding strategies will increase student engagement and student achievement.
Objective(s): All subgroups will make AYP or Safe Harbor and differentiated instruction and scaffolding strategies will increase student engagement and student achievement, 70% of the time, by the end of the 2010 - 2011 school year as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam and CRTs.
