Mission Statement
The Ober community creates a safe, nurturing environment where students are empowered to reach their full academic, and social potential to become compassionate, respectful, and responsible citizens.
 
Highlights
"Four Walls with Tomorrow Inside" is our motto. Ober Elementary School's community of dedicated staff and parents continue to work collaboratively to meet the needs of all our children.
  • Ober ES qualified as a High Achieving School on the 2010 Nevada Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report.
  • PTO purchased a school license for Ticket to Read for all students to work on essential reading skills.
  • Student Council sponsored spirit days, raised money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and sold grams for Ober ES.
  • Students in grades K-5 participated in a school-wide Multicultural Dance Festival and displayed art from various countries.
  • Teachers worked collaboratively during STPT and RTI in order to monitor progress, share ideas, and analyze data.
  • Ober-TV broadcasted weekly announcements, upcoming events, student recognition, and student council news.
  • Story and Snack, Cool Cash, School is Cool, prize wheel, and student store were incentives to encourage attendance.
  • Trimester award assemblies recognized students for attendance, citizenship, student performance, and growth.
  • Elmos, Smartboards, and E-beams were purchased to increase instructional technology throughout the building.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Teachers will utilize research-based instructional strategies to improve instruction in English language arts (ELA).

Objective(s):
Students in grades K-5 will increase the number of student proficient by 3% as measured by the May 2011 CCSD Interim Survey Assessments in English language arts and mathematics.

Goal 2
Teachers will implement differentiated instruction daily to meet the needs of all students in ELA and math.

Objective(s):
Students in grades 3-5 will achieve the English language arts target of 63.8% or obtain Safe Harbor (reduce non-proficient students by 10%) as measured by the March 2011 English language arts CRT, specifically in the IEP and Black/African American subgroups.
