Mission Statement
William K. Moore Elementary School is where we build knowledge and character for future success of our students. Through high expectations and a positive learning environment, the school, parents and community are responsible partners in the educational and social growth of its students.
 
Highlights
Students are learning through the 3-Tier approach to Core Reading and intensive 70-minute math instruction. These approaches have led to increases in DIBELS and interim test scores.
  • Teachers analyzed data to create the best strategies for student achievement. As a result, interim test scores increased.
  • Parent trainings were sponsored by grade levels to highlight educational activities that could help their students at home.
  • An active student council fostered responsibility among students.
  • 114 members of the "300" Club were inducted. These students scored above a 300 on the ELA and math portions of the CRT.
  • Reading is Fundamental book distribution enabled Moore to give our students 2,887 new free books.
  • As of March 28th, students at Moore Elementary school have read over 10,091 AR books and 44,561,824 words!
  • Moore ES students won 2nd place and took 5 individual medals in Division A at the Nevada State Science Olympiad competition.
  • Teachers were trained in Donyall Dickey's Integrated Approach to Student Achievement and School Improvement.
  • Monthly Books and Breakfasts or Math and Munchies were held to promote school and home partnerships.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Moore students will demonstrate increased proficiency in reading on the 2010-2011 Nevada Criterion Referenced Test.

Objective(s):
Increase the number of students proficient in reading in third, fourth and fifth grades as measured by the Nevada Criterion Referenced Test. Specific increases will be made in the content clusters of Comprehension, Literary Text and Word Analysis.

Goal 2
Moore students will demonstrate increased proficiency in math on the 2010-2011 Nevada Criterion Referenced Test.

Objective(s):
Increase the number of students proficient in math in third, fourth and fifth grades as measured by the Nevada Criterion Referenced Test. Specific increases will be made in the content clusters of: Algebra and Functions, Measurement and Data Analysis.

Goal 3
Moore students will demonstrate increased proficiency in writing on the 2010-2011 Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam.

Objective(s):
Increase the number of proficient fifth grade students measured by 2010-2011 Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam. Specific improvement will be made on the traits of Voice and Conventions.
