Mission Statement
We are committed to standards of excellence. We will set goals and take responsibility for life-long learning in an environment where learners are empowered and diversity is valued.
 
Highlights
The staff at Frias Elementary School focuses on high social and academic standards for all students. We infuse technology into the curriculum to enhance learning, and we celebrate diversity.
  • The Student Council officers introduced the first Frias Falcon Live Newscast, featuring daily news school-wide.
  • Our itinerant music teacher, Ms. Carter, and our third grade students started the first Frias Falcon Instrumental Ensemble.
  • We continued to use Compass Learning, a research-based computer program, with reading, math, science and social studies.
  • Autoskill Reading/Math, Imagine Learning, Study Island and Star Reading/Math computer programs were implemented.
  • Mad Science Exploration sessions were conducted, and students performed inquiry-based science experiments.
  • The Frias Give Back Club continued to help needy children in the Las Vegas community.
  • Over 150 students auditioned for our 1st annual talent show sponsored by the Student Council, Mr. Cope & Ms. Sanzobrino.
  • The PTA planned many family involvement events, such as Bingo Night, Movie Night, Moms and Muffins, and Dads and Donuts.
  • We added Accelerated Math stations in each pod and implemented the Accelerated Math program in 1st through 5th grades.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 at Frias Elementary School will show increased achievement in reading on the 2010-11 CRT.

Objective(s):
Students' performance across all subgroups on the Nevada reading CRT comprehend, interpret and evaluate informational text will increase from 73% to 76% for grade 3, 76% to 79% for grade 4, and 65% for grade 5.

Goal 2
Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 at Frias Elementary School will show increased achievement in math on the 2010-11 CRT.

Objective(s):
Students' performance across all subgroups on the Nevada CRT for math, Cognitive/ability - generate/solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems, time, measurement, money; Problem Solving ability level will increase from 78% to 81% in 3rd, 79% to 82% in 4th, 78% to 81% in 5th.
