The mission of Harvey N. Dondero Elementary School is to ensure academic achievement for all students, in partnership with parents, in a safe learning environment that promotes social and intellectual growth. |

The staff at Harvey N. Dondero Elementary School models high expectations for academic achievement and citizenship through the following programs, activities, and recognitions:- Academic, Citizenship, and Super Student recognition assemblies and a Super Student pizza lunch with the principal were held.
- Two students received the Harvey Dondero Award for Excellence in academic achievement and citizenship.
- Lexia, StudyIsland, ST Math, and Accelerated Reader (AR) programs were utilized by students to increase achievement.
- Students participated in four evening music performances and a science fair.
- A student-managed studio delivered daily live television broadcasts to the school.
- Ten after-school math and reading tutorial classes were offered allowing for sixteen sessions of remediation.
- Over 120 students participated in the after-school Nevada Ballet Theatre Future Dance Program.
- All students grades 1-5 participated in Arts Alive, where students worked with sculpture, fabrics, sketching, and painting.
- Six parent training meetings were held on a variety of topics, such as bullying, literacy, and test-taking strategies.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase achievement in English language arts, with focus on writing to meet or exceed targets measured by the 2012 CRT.
Objective(s): Between September 2011 and April 2012, student performance in ELA for all student subgroups performing at or above targets will increase 5-10% based on 2011 levels to remain on track for maintaining proficiency. Subgroups below targets will demonstrate a 10% increase based on 2011 levels.
Goal 2 The Hispanic, IEP, African-American, and FRL subgroups in grades 3, 4, and 5 will increase math proficiency on 2012 CRT.
Objective(s): Between September 2011 and April 2012, student performance in mathematics for the Hispanic, IEP, African-American, and FRL subgroups in grades 3, 4, and 5 will show a 5% increase in the percentage of proficient students on the 2012 CRT.
