Mission Statement |

The mission of George E. Harris Elementary School is to meet the academic, emotional, and social needs of all students in order for each individual to realize maximum academic and social potential for future success. |

The students and staff at George E. Harris have worked hard to raise academic expectations and student performance while incorporating valuable social skills.- A CRT Pep Rally was held at Chaparral HS campus for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
- A CRT Boot Camp was held on a Saturday to provide students with targeted instruction and key test-taking skills for the CRTs.
- A Parent Center was developed and utilized to provide support for families.
- Use of technology was increased; by end of the school year, a SmartBoard will be in every classroom.
- Students were recognized in special assemblies each trimester for achievement in academics, attendance, and citizenship.
- The "Be Kind" school-wide student behavior program encouraged and reinforced genuine acts of kindness by students.
- 21st Century Grant funds were utilized to provide targeted academic instruction before and after school.
- The community participated in many activities throughout the year: Fall Festival, Literacy/Math Nights, & Multicultural Fair.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Students will consistently receive effective and appropriate instruction that is directly based on NV State Standards.
Objective(s): By the end of 2010-2011, 100% of all lesson plans and 80% of all classroom observations will include grade-level appropriate instruction that is based directly on NV State Standards; one-third (33%) of all questions asked during classroom observations will be at DOK level 2 or higher.
Goal 2 Students will consistently receive high quality instruction that is differentiated to meet their specific needs.
Objective(s): On the Nevada spring 2011 CRTs ELA and math scores will increase by 6% overall as a school, with specific subgroups improving as follows: in ELA-Hispanic/Latino-12.4%, IEP-31%, LEP-14.3%, FRL-6.1%; in Math-Hispanic/Latino-14.9%, IEP-28.4%, LEP-13.2%, and FRL-8.3%.
