Mission Statement
Students at Myrtle Tate Elementary School excel in a safe, respectful and rigorous environment that fosters academic achievement and personal responsibility to become highly productive participants in the evolving global community.
 
Highlights
Myrtle Tate staff is committed to providing rigorous academic instruction to promote student achievement. We are proud to highlight the following accomplishments:
  • Title I provided funding for supplemental tutoring before and after school and summer school.
  • Writing and CRT Camps were offered to students in preparation for the Writing Proficiency Exam and the CRT.
  • Nevada state funds were utilized to provide class-size reduction for grades 1, 2, and 3.
  • Title I provided funding for full-day kindergarten to promote necessary early literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Collaboration, student data analysis, and instructional strategies were accomplished through weekly grade level meetings.
  • Technology such as Smartboards, audio enhancement, laptops, and instructional computer programs enhanced student learning.
  • A Title I Parent Center promoted parent-school relationships through academic activities and English language education.
  • Home/school links were fostered by Breakfast with Books, Academic Night, Fall Festival, and Muffins with the Principal.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Increase the effectiveness of Tier 1 ELA and mathematics instruction.

Objective(s):
By the end of the 2010-2011 school year, there will be a 10% decrease in the percentage of students receiving Tier 2 & 3 interventions in grades K-5.

Goal 2
The school will collaborate to ensure all staff articulate high expectations for mastery of standards.

Objective(s):
By the end of 2010-2011 school year, teacher and parent communication will increase by 100% from the 2009-2010 school year by conducting Parent/Student/Teacher Academic Planning Time twice per year.
