This year our focus was on research-based instructional practices, technology integration, and interventions to ensure achievement for all students. We are proud to share the following highlights:- We made 14% growth in math as measured by the state-mandated Criterion Referenced Test.
- We exceeded the Superior Growth standard for increasing the number of ELL students who made 1 or more levels of progress.
- We continued with Capturing Kids' Hearts and implemented "Filling a Bucket" to promote positive social skills.
- We increased access to technology by installing interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and several mini-labs.
- Project-based learning was implemented across the content areas in grades 4 and 5, and in math and science for other grades.
- Student talent was highlighted in our annual Holiday Program, Ferron Talent Show, Show Choir, and Friday morning ceremonies.
- We emphasized achievement with Bringing Up Grades lunches, Honor Roll incentives, Math Fact parties, and Blue Ribbon awards.
- Through Title 1 ARRA funding, we were able to hire two Instructional Interventionists and offer professional development.
- We implemented modified class size reduction in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades.
