Mission Statement
Will Beckley Elementary School is a community of students, parents, and staff obligated to engage students in multiple opportunities to master academic and social connections by providing essential experiences for students to reach their full potential as competent members of society.
 
Highlights
Beckley ES is a Professional Learning Community with highly qualified teachers and staff who have a strong commitment to high student achievement, engagement in learning, and standards of excellence.
  • Title 1 provided strategists, instructional aides, technology, parent training, and professional development for staff.
  • Common grade-level assessments were developed/analyzed to track student achievement & make data-driven instruction decisions.
  • SmartBoards, projectors, audio enhancement systems, Mac/PC computers, document cameras, and grade cams engaged students.
  • Struggling students received academic support through daily intervention, tutoring, small group & differentiated instruction.
  • Monthly family nights, Student Council, Leadership Club, choir, & Beckley Folkloric Group enhanced the sense of community.
  • Award assemblies, French Fry Fridays, & monthly certificates recognized academics, achievement, citizenship, & attendance.
  • PTO, 2nd Cup of Coffee, Harvest Festival, Watch DOG Dads, and volunteer opportunities promoted parent involvement.
  • Arizona Charlie's monetary resources, volunteers, & employee donations supported instruction, student needs, and field trips.
  • Summer school, tutoring, Inclusion, Science Club, Fast ForWord, Compass Odyssey, & Accelerated Reader promoted achievement.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
All Beckley students will demonstrate increased academic achievement in English language arts, math, and science.

Objective(s):
All students in grades 3, 4 and 5, as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency exam and the CRT, will make AYP or Safe Harbor by the end of the 2010-2011 school year. Students in grades K, 1, and 2, as measured by Interim Survey, will improve scores over the previous year by at least 8%.

Goal 2
Beckley students will demonstrate increased academic achievement in writing as measured by Nevada AYP standards.

Objective(s):
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5, in all subgroups will decrease their non-proficiency in writing in all areas (conventions, voice, organization, and ideas) by 10% or more. Students in grades 4 and 5, in all subgroups will decrease their non-proficiency in writing by 10%.
