At Vegas Verdes ES, we value and promote teamwork to positively impact the achievement and school experiences for our students.- Climate: Teachers attended staff development in "Capturing Kids' Hearts" in order to enhance positive classroom climate.
- Climate: Teachers and staff worked as a team to analyze assessment data to guide & improve instruction and promote learning.
- Climate: Recognition activities motivated students to achieve in reading, in physical fitness, and in character development.
- Achievement: Students attended before- and after-school tutoring, CRT Saturday School and Summer Academy.
- Achievement: Students reached the goal of fifteen thousand 100 percents on Accelerated Reader tests.
- Achievement: Identified staff members provided intervention services to increase proficiency in reading and math.
- Achievement: Voyager, Read Well, Imagine Learning, Accelerated Reader, and Study Island supported reading and math.
- Achievement: Students participated in Chess Club, Peer Mediation, Goodwill Ambassadors, GATE, and TAGS.
- Participation: Our new Family Leadership Institute promoted growth and involvement for a group of dedicated parents.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Students in grades 3-5 will show increased achievement in reading on the spring 2010 NV Criterion Referenced Test (CRT).
Objective(s): There will be a 10% reduction in student non-proficiency in reading as measured by the 2011 Criterion Referenced Test. Specific improvements will be made in the strand of Depth of Knowledge 2 (DOK2).
Goal 2 Students will demonstrate increased achievement in math based on the spring 2011 Criterion Referenced Test (CRT).
Objective(s): There will be a 10% reduction in student non-proficiency in mathematics as measured by the 2011 Criterion Referenced Test. Specific improvements will be made in the strands of Depth of Knowledge 2 (DOK2).
Goal 3 Students in grade 5 will demonstrate increased achievement in writing on the 2011 Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam.
Objective(s): Students in Grade 5 will demonstrate a 10% decrease in non-proficiency in writing.
