Now in its fifth year of Empowerment, Paul Culley Empowerment School has continued to show how much students can improve with increased accountability,nomy, and community support.- Excalibur Hotel & Casino was a wonderful business partner, providing resources and time to enhance educational opportunities.
- The Toyota Corporation sponsored a family literacy program that promoted parent involvement in their children's education.
- Rick Culley, son of Paul Culley, and President of the Institute for Executive Development, donated his professional services.
- Our teachers collaborated consistently to provide targeted instruction through Focused Reading groups and the PDCA cycle.
- Fourth graders traveled to Carson City to tour the Capitol buildings and visit lawmakers.
- The Growing Great organization was a new business partner that helped with nutrition lessons and planting a school garden.
- Culley offered a myriad of Community Connection Nights to involve our families in their children's education.
- Using Empowerment and Title 1 funds, additional learning strategists provided targeted reading and math interventions.
- Culley offered before- and after-school tutoring, learning camps, and a variety of clubs.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will increase achievement in reading as measured by the 2011 Nevada CRT.
Objective(s): By June 2011, all subgroups will achieve at a minimum proficiency of 63.8% in reading.
Goal 2 Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will increase achievement in math, as measured by the 2011 Nevada CRT.
Objective(s): By June 2011, all subgroups will achieve at a minimum proficiency of 65.9% in math.
Goal 3 5th grade students will show an increase in writing performance as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam.
Objective(s): By January 2011, 5th grade student proficiency in writing will improve from 49.6% to 53.6%. Specifically, student proficiency will increase from 2.7 to 3.0 in organization, and in conventions from 2.6 to 3.0.
