The Kermit Roosevelt Booker Sr. Empowerment Elementary School staff believes all students have the potential to be vital contributors to their community. We will encourage academic, emotional, social and creative growth. We accept the responsibility of providing a positive environment for achieving these educational goals. |

It's a wonderful world at Kermit R. Booker Sr. Empowerment School. The successes and achievements for the 2010-11 school year were:- 2010-11 was our fourth successful year as an empowerment school, increasing proficiency in writing from 58% to 67.7%.
- We increased proficiency in English/Language Arts from 64% to 71%, and in math from 64% to 77% as a school.
- Booker ES was designated "High Achieving-Growth" for the 2009-10 school year.
- PreK-5th grade students engaged in 158 minutes daily leveled reading/language arts instruction using the 3 Tier Model.
- Students engaged in a 70-minute block of daily math instruction using the EnvisionMath program that integrates technology.
- The Western HS Latino Club as well as NV State College assisted our math initiative by helping in our tutoring program.
- We utilized our school-based medical clinic for the second successful year.
- We had partnerships with Fitzgeralds LV; Mark L. Fine & Ass.; NLV, Fremont and Summerlin Rotaries; & the Links, Inc.
- We completed 100% face-to-face conferences for the sixteenth consecutive year.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 We will increase scores inEnglish/Language Arts (ELA) on the 2010-11 Nevada CRT and Writing Proficiency Exams.
Objective(s): The percent of students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades proficient in ELA on the 2011 Nevada Criterion Referenced Test and the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam will increase to 63.8% with a focus on our Hispanic and African American Subgroups.
Goal 2 We will increase achievement in mathematics on the spring 2011 Nevada Criterion Referenced Test.
Objective(s): The percent of students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades proficient in mathematics on the 2011 Nevada Criterion Referenced Test will increase to 65.9% with a focus on our Hispanic and African American Subgroups.
