Mission Statement
Our mission is to challenge and empower all students by providing an enriched education with an emphasis on science, mathematics, and technology.
 
Highlights
At Hoggard, students learn through inquiry-based/hands-on academic programs with rigor. Math/science concepts are integrated to provide authentic learning. Technology is used to enhance instruction.
  • Designated in February 2011 as a Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America
  • Mentoring Program: All students have a staff mentor to encourage and foster academic success
  • Learning Lab: A 1st-5th grade intervention program emphasizing phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, and fluency
  • Labs: Math/science labs with extensive math/science instruction; music labs with piano and guitar instruction
  • Garden/Greenhouse Programs: Hands-on planting and plant study with students in grades K-2
  • Advanced Math Program: Enrichment program for students exceeding standards, with an emphasis on algebraic concepts
  • Exploration Program: Weekly exploration periods connecting fine arts to the general curriculum
  • Student Council: Student government for decision making on school and community improvements
  • Partnerships: LV Water Authority, CB Richard Ellis, West Career and Technical Academy, and Levy Gardens Retirement Home
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Increase the percentage of third, fourth, and fifth grade students demonstrating proficiency in the area of mathematics.

Objective(s):
All third, fourth, and fifth grade students will demonstrate an increase of 10% proficiency in Depth of Knowledge Level 3 as measured by the Criterion Referenced Test (CRT) administered in spring 2011.

Goal 2
Increase the percentage of fifth grade students demonstrating proficiency in the area of writing.

Objective(s):
All fifth grade students will demonstrate an increase of 10% in the traits of Ideas, Organization, Conventions, and Voice as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency Examination administered January 2011.
